The Invitation to Wait
Three times in Psalm 27, David says, "Wait for the Lord." Not once. Not twice. Three times. As if he knows we need the reminder—over and over again.
Because waiting isn't passive. Waiting is active trust.
When we wait on God, we're saying:
-
"I don't have all the answers, but You do."
-
"I don't see the full picture, but You do."
-
"I'm tempted to force my own way, but I'm choosing to trust Yours."
Isaiah 40:31 promises: "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."
Waiting isn't weakness. It's where our strength is renewed.
Worship When You Can't See the Outcome
Here's the tension: We want to worship God after He answers. After the breakthrough. After the miracle. After we see how it all works out.
But true worship happens before we see the outcome.
-
Habakkuk 2:3 says the vision has an appointed time. "If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come."
-
Lamentations 3:25 reminds us: "The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him."
Worship in the waiting says, "God, I trust You even when I don't understand. I praise You even when I can't see what's next."
That's faith. That's surrender. That's worship.
What Worship in the Waiting Looks Like
So how do we worship when we're stuck in the in-between?
✅ We choose gratitude over anxiety. Thank God for what He's already done, even as you wait for what's next.
✅ We pray instead of panic. Bring your honest feelings to God. He can handle your questions and frustrations.
✅ We trust His timing over our timeline. God isn't late. He's never early. He's always right on time.
✅ We stay rooted in His Word. When circumstances are uncertain, His promises are steady.
✅ We keep showing up. Even when you don't feel it, worship anyway. Obedience is worship.
This Week's Challenge:
Identify one area where you're waiting on God right now. Instead of asking "How much longer?" ask "What do You want to teach me here?"
Write down one thing you're grateful for in this season of waiting. It might be small. It might be hard to find. But gratitude shifts our perspective from what we're missing to what God is doing.
Prayer:
God, waiting is hard. I want answers now. I want clarity now. But I'm choosing to trust Your timing. Teach me to worship You in the waiting—not because I see the outcome, but because I know You're faithful. Renew my strength as I wait on You. In Jesus' name, amen.
